Online – Cosmology: at the crossroads between theory and observations

Quarto Dia

Aula 4

This course aims to introduce the basic concepts used in cosmology and to connect the theory of the standard model of cosmology with the observables measured by modern surveys. We shall start with the description of an expanding universe, and the kinematics and dynamics of a homogeneous and isotropic universe. Then we discuss the basic constituents of the universe, with particular interest in the dark sector, namely, dark matter and dark energy. In order to connect theory with observation,we need to introduce basic notions of statistical analysis. Finally we describe the most common observables such as CMB and BAO.
